The PGA Golf Championships

The USA PGA Golf Championship is played annually in North America and has seen 91 glorious tournaments since its inception in Jan. 17, 1916. This was ironically started by a Scotsman. However, an Englishman named Jim Barnes won the first 5 titles before an American player even joined the ranks. The tournament is part of the PGA Tour and is conducted by the PGA (Professional Golf Association of America).

WOW!  An unbelievable ending to one of the toughest tournaments I have ever watched.  We watched the best in the world get thrown from the tournament after two rounds, we watched a legend return to his former glory and show the world why he is a legend and the winner of 8 major championships and we saw a man become a champion by delivering a crushing blow on the last shot of the tournament.

2009 Open Championship

The Open Championship of Golf, the oldest of the 4 Majors.  The British Open is played in various locations throughout the British Iles, the most famous of these courses in St. Andrews .  This year the Open Championship will be played on the Ailsa Course at Turnberry in Ayrshire, Scotland.  On July 16-19, 2009 Padraig Harrington will defend his title and attempt to win the open for the third time in as many years.

The 2009 US Open Golf Tournament: History and Information

The US Open Golf Championship takes place annually in June, each year at a different course across the country. This tournament is the second of four major championships in golf that take place each year. It began in 1895, and is the second oldest of today’s major golf tournaments. It has changed in formats several times over the decades; today the US Open uses a format established in 1965, of 18 holes per day for four days.

The FedEx Cup is a championship trophy on the PGA Tour. First awarded in 2007 after a points race, each year since then it has undergone rule changes to address issues that arose during the previous year.

The Byron Nelson Championship: Background, News, and Results for 2009

The Byron Nelson Championship, currently sponsored by HP, is a PGA Tour golf tournament held in late April or early May. It s held at the Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas in Texas. The Byron Nelson Championship is one of only two PGA Tour events named after a pro golfer; the other is the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass

One of the most popular PGA Tour stops is coming up soon.  May 7-11, 2009 is The Players Championship at TCP Sawgrass, one of the most anticipated golf tournaments of the year.  With almost 10 million dollars up for grabs, this is one of the biggest stops for the PGA Tour.  The TPC Sawgrass course was specially built to host The Players Championship and is the permanent home for this very special match.
