One of the prominent professional golfers of America, Anthony Kim is known for his achievements in the various golf tournaments. Anthony Ha-Jin Kim was born a Korean American on June 19, 1985 in Los Angeles. Kim was educated at the La Quinta High School in La Quinta in California. Now he is a resident of Dallas Texas.
He was a junior world champion golfer in his earlier years. During his student life at the University of Oklahoma, Anthony Kim was awarded the All-American Award and the Freshman of the Year award for his achievements on the golf field. Anthony Kim started his career as a professional golfer in 2006. This was the result of an invitation by a sponsor who wanted him to take up his interest as a career.
His debut PGA Tour at the Valero Texas Open Golf Championship in 2006 ended with his tying for the second position. He achieved the PGA Tour card for the following year from the qualifying school that was responsible for selecting the players for 2007 season. The rookie season of the PGA tour of the 2007 season began on a high note for Kim. He officially became one of the top 100 players in the list of World Golf Rankings with the help of his top 10 finishes which numbered up to 4.
In 2008, Anthony Kim achieved many admirable feats. In May, he defeated Ben Curtis, the former British Open Championship, at the Wachovia Championship. It was his first victory at the PGA Tour championship. Again in July 2008 he was triumphant over Fredrik Jacobson at the AT&T National tournament, his second victory in a PGA tour. He moved from his ranking at world number 16 to become 14 after his victories at these two championships.
Kim won two tournaments at the PGA tour and became one of the American golfers who have achieved this impressive feat under the age of 25. Anthony Kim was also the winner of the finals in the two events of FedEx Cup in 2008. The win in the FedEx Cup tournament helped him to move up to the 6th rank in the world rankings.
The winning streak continued in Anthony Kim’s professional career and in September the same year, he became an active instrument in the Ryder Cup. He won over Sergio Garcia, a veteran golfer, and helped the United States win the Ryder Cup. 2008 was one the best years in the professional career of Anthony Kim. He won a number of tournaments and moved among the best golf players of the world.
